April 1863 in Denmark, seventeen year old Catherine meets with
her fiance and when he claims he won’t read from her Book of Mormon she has her
answer to call off the marriage and travel with her family to America. This
decision will send Catherine on an exciting journey. You’ll experience with her
the first time seeing a train or even a bicycle, and feel the deep sorrow and
hardship immigrants endured while traveling to America.
Catherine is young and naive when she first starts out. She’s full of life and many suitors want to court her during her travels.
She dreams of the perfect man with fly away blonde hair and blue sparkling
eyes, but Catherine will learn many valuable lessons of what true love is along
the way.
While traveling across the ocean Catherine faces death and sadness. Through life’s trails and lessons she will find strength within herself. This story is
based on true events the author’s ancestors indeed experienced giving us a
great insight of what it was really like for all of those that sacrificed so
much. What a great read and in the end you will love Catherine and her harebrained
ways as much I did.
Tina Scott is a fantastic writer as she puts you in the
scene as if you were right there.
